Legal Observer Program
We work to shield protesters and everyday citizens from unfair treatment from the police by providing a network of trained legal observers that are available to attend public demonstrations. Supporting the right to gather and protest is a pillar of the National Lawyers Guild.
The primary role of legal observers is to be the eyes and ears at a protest. Legal observers document all protest activity, including police encounters, to ensure that our constitutional rights are protected. Legal observers work in conjunction with licensed attorneys to provide evidence of events surrounding an arrest, and the work they provide is protected by attorney-client privilege.
You can request a legal observer in Arkansas by contacting NLGAR at (501) 732-7443 or at arkansas@nlg.org.
